Environmental Advocacy with Asia Orlando; Launching Our Planet Week
In response to the environmental crisis of 2020, illustrator Asia Orlando launched an initiative called Our Planet Week. This annual illustration movement was created to foster environmental awareness through art and illustration. This initiative brings together artists worldwide, inviting them to use their creative skills to spark conversations about environmental issues.
Participants create illustrations based on an official prompt every year, and to share them on social media with a specific set of hashtags in the caption to boost their message.
Along with creating the art, Our Planet Week partners with organizations like One Tree Planted to launch real world change through planting trees. In the four years Our Planet Week has occurred, 11,500 trees have been planted globally. This movement showcases that art can be a powerful tool for positive changes.
This years Our Planet Week starts on a very special day, Earth Day!
Interested in joining along? To do so, create illustrations with a message, inspired by the official prompts, post it on your socials from April 22nd to May 1st, 2024, tag @ourplanetweek, and use the official hashtags #ourplanetweek, #ourplanetweek2024, #letsdrawthechange.
